Undergoing plastic surgery can be a nerve-wracking experience, especially when you consider the days and weeks that will follow the operation. While plastic surgery has improved dramatically in the past several years, the fact remains that making physical changes to your body through surgery will inevitably require a period of rest and recovery.

At the Pearl Recovery Retreat, our state-of-the-art facility offers the most luxurious and professional post-surgical care in the Los Angeles area. If you are considering nasal surgery or have the operation scheduled, don’t wait to book your stay at Pearl for a smooth and stress-free recovery with high-quality medical care and hotel amenities.

The Rhinoplasty Recovery Process

Following nasal surgery, patients are given a list of instructions and can return home to begin the healing process. Patients will have an aluminum frame over their nose for protection as well as soft silicone splints and nasal packing in the nasal passages to prevent bleeding and allow the tissue to heal.

The most difficult or uncomfortable part of the recovery process after nasal surgery is typically the first week or so. The nasal passages will be swollen and obstructed, resulting in congestion, nasal discharge, and dried blood and mucus. If there are external sutures, they will have to be carefully cleaned several times a day to prevent infection. Most patients feel groggy and tired and may have trouble sleeping as they can only breathe through their mouth, which can quickly lead to a dry scratchy throat.

By the second week, patients typically feel well enough to return to work or school if they are not worried about being seen in public with bruising and swelling around their nose. By the third week, patients can return to almost all normal activities, except for exercise, and the results of the operation will slowly start to show as the swelling gradually subsides. By the fourth week and beyond, the nose will have healed and only slight swelling may remain at the tip of the nose. The full results may not be seen until a year after the procedure.

Recover in Comfort with Pearl

The amount of time and the process of recovering from a rhinoplasty is different for every patient. Some individuals will need to take up to two weeks off of work in order to feel ready and well enough to return. Many cosmetic surgery patients choose to spend the most challenging first days after surgery in the comfort and luxury of Pearl Recovery Retreat.

In many cases, rhinoplasties are performed as an outpatient procedure and the patient simply returns home the same day as the operation. With a scheduled stay at Pearl, rhinoplasty patients will receive five-star treatment as they are picked up from their surgeon’s office and taken to the elegant SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills where our professional nurses will help with everything from pain management to ensuring that your doctor’s orders are followed. The pain and difficulty breathing that comes with nasal surgery can be distressing, but Pearl offers private luxury suites and 24/7 private nurses to ensure comfort and security.
