The Surgery Recovery Process for Facelifts
Facelifts take a bit of time for recovery, and they can be exhausting. From your first day to your last, you will need to follow a strict recovery regiment laid out by your surgeon. Everyone’s surgery recovery process is different, and much of this has to do with how well people prepare for their surgery, how well they follow their doctor’s specific postoperative instructions, and how well they stick to the following tips.
Day 1: Don’t Do It Alone
The first day of facelift surgery recovery will be the most difficult one. You should make sure to have someone by your side. At Pearl Recovery and Wellness, we keep a staff of nurses on hand. We make sure you are well cared for your first day and throughout your stay. If you decide to recover at home, make sure you have a close friend or a family member around to help you throughout the recovery process.
You might also want to refrain from spending the first day lying flat in bed. We know how tempting it is to lie down after surgery, and you can. Just make sure to keep your face elevated to keep down swelling. Sitting up or propping yourself with pillows will help minimize the amount of swelling you experience.
Week 1: Keep Your Spirits Up
By the second day, you will get a few of your bandages off and the pain should recede substantially. Day three should see you ready to walk around some on your own. The swelling should be much less by day three as well. You will still have some bandages on, and your doctor will probably have you wearing a garment for a week or so.
Soon you won’t feel pain at all, and you won’t have to worry about swelling. The worst will soon be behind you, but for the time being, you will want to keep your spirits up. Make sure you are still eating healthy and moving about. At Pearl Recovery and Wellness, we offer access to our partner Ciel Spa. Feel free to de-stress with a hyperbaric treatment, a manicure or one of our wonderful juice cleanses during your first week of surgery recovery.
Week 2: Continue Following Your Doctor’s Instructions
During the ideal surgery recovery situation, week two is the last week that will derail your typical daily routine. The key here is to not jump the gun. The finish line is in sight, and you feel much better than the previous week. Stick to the basics. Continue to follow your doctor’s postoperative instructions, and you will be fine.
